The Napkin Drawing

Multiple times a week, our team at Component Supply gets emails or phone calls from customers describing a component. They may not know every specification of the part they need, but they have a general idea of what they are looking for and what they are trying to accomplish. One of our follow-up questions is always “do you have a drawing?” More often than you might think, the answer is, “no.” Sometimes we get involved in a project so early on that the customer has not even had the chance to make a formal drawing.

Honestly, that’s fine by us. We can get the process going even if a customer can provide something as simple as a napkin drawing. With the most basic drawing or specifications, we can advise on one of our many CS Lab Kits with which to test hypodermic tubing, wire, mesh, or needle configurations. We can put a prototype of custom cuts or bends in your hands for a low minimum. If you are struggling to make a connection in your application, we can advise on the appropriate fitting or customize one specifically for you.

We do not want to put off a project or prevent you from testing an idea just because your design isn’t final. We will work with the simplest drawings and ask the questions we need to get a concept on your desk – maybe even before the first revision of your drawing is finalized. So, send us your “napkin drawing,” and let’s get that project off the ground.
